NOT FUCKING ACCEPTABLE.

Last week, a heat wave, in tandem with a lack of adequate housing and other safeguards for the animals, resulted in thousands of dairy cows perishing in the punishing heat of California’s Central Valley. It’s one of the worst weather-related incidents to strike dairy herds in recent memory, and rendering plants in California are so overwhelmed with rotting carcasses that county officials are suspending rules against burying the animals whole in mass graves.

Japanese designer Haruki Nakamura has a knack for creating all kinds of interesting paper objects from puzzles to kirigami toys. One of his best designs is this awesome squeezable paper puppet that reveals a sheep wearing wolf’s clothing. Also check out his penguin bomb, a type of automated paper puppet called a karakuri that has hidden inner mechanisms. Nakamura sells all of his designs in an online shop, but currently only ships within Japan. (via GIF87a, Grape)

Digital illustrator Chris Labrooy continues to experiment with radically unusual car designs by creating ludicrous CGI vehicle concepts based on VW Beetles, Datsuns, and Citroen C3s. Since we first mentioned his Auto Aerobics series, Labrooy decided to bring a few of his ideas to life in a series of animations titled Cut & Shut and Tokyo. You can see more of his recent work in his portfolio. (via Designboom)
